Casework Guidelines

Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre provides free and accessible legal advice and assistance to people who reside in the Goulburn Valley in accordance with these guidelines.

Advice services are provided to a broad section of the community in a wide range of areas (outlined below), both in person and over the telephone.

Casework services are more limited, both in terms of the types of legal matters and the range of people who will be assisted. Goulburn Valley CLC is committed to improving access to justice for those facing multiple forms of disadvantage. Casework is directed towards:

  • Goulburn Valley CLC’s priority areas (which may change from time to time); and
  • people experiencing financial hardship or who are otherwise vulnerable and disadvantaged

From time to time, the centre may undertake casework outside of this criteria because of compelling public interest reasons.

Goulburn Valley CLC is committed to developing strong partnerships with other community services and organisations. Goulburn Valley CLC commonly undertakes projects with partner organisations addressing specific areas of need. Such project work may require a more flexible application of these guidelines, or development of the project’s own guidelines, to be approved by Loddon Campaspe CLC’s Principal Lawyer (Goulburn Valley CLC is a division of Loddon Campaspe CLC).
