New Health-Justice Partnership launched

Community leaders at health-justice partnership announcementOn the 2nd of June Attorney-General Martin Pakula signed off on a new grant to resource a health-justice partnership between Goulburn Valley CLC and Rumbalara Aboriginal Corporation.

The local member for Shepparton, Suzanna Sheed, officiated at the formal project launch at Rumbalara’s Harmony Centre. This exciting project, costing $300,000 over two years, will embed a senior legal practitioner at Rumbalara Health so that legal advice and assistance can be provided to our local Aboriginal community in a culturally safe and supported environment.

The Rumbalara lawyer will provide a range of information, advice and casework services but will also be an important conduit for the warm referral of clients to specialist services where appropriate such as Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention & Legal Service and Victoria Legal Aid, as well as the Goulburn Valley CLC Therapeutic Justice and Generalist Services.
